Mar
Vista Celebrates! was created for every Mar Vistan
to join together for a big block-party to commemorate
the 80 years that Mar Vista has officially been part
of the City of Los Angeles - and the many years to come.
Who?
Anyone with a connection to Mar Vista. At the time the
area was annexed it included all the land between Walgrove
Ave. and Overland Ave., south of Pico Blvd. to Culver
City, which includes part of what is now known as Palms.
So come join the fun if you: live in the annexed area,
have ever lived in the area before, own a business in
the area, ever do business in the area, have ever driven
through the area, know where Mar Vista is on the map,
can spell Mar Vista, etc., etc., etc.
When?
Sunday August 5, 2007, from 9 AM to 3 PM.
What?
Experience music, poetry, dance, art & food of Mar
Vista's varied cultures.
Visit booths of vendors and various local civic, municipal
and social groups.
Explore Arts and Crafts exhibits and sales.
Participate in historical activities and ceremonial
presentations.
Bring the kids along - there will be special programs
for them.
Best of all - you decide! Arrange your own booth, pesentation
or activity! You can help create this celebration. Get
the application form here.
Where?
The celebration will be along Grand View Blvd., between
Venice Blvd. and Mitchell Ave., including Grand View
Elementary School. There will be both indoor and outdoor
activities. The Farmers Market, celebrating its first
anniversary on that same day, will add festivities of
its own. Watch this space in the future for details
of parking.
Why?
You like to have fun don't you?
